Job Description: Adoption Coordinator

Position Overview:
The Adoption Coordinator plays a critical role in facilitating the adoption process within the Family Services department. This position requires a compassionate and knowledgeable individual who can effectively coordinate and support families throughout the adoption journey. The Adoption Coordinator will ensure compliance with adoption regulations and policies while providing exceptional guidance and support to prospective adoptive families.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of prospective adoptive families to assess their eligibility and suitability for adoption.
2. Collaborate with social workers, legal professionals, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the adoption process aligns with applicable laws and regulations.
3. Coordinate and facilitate pre-adoption training sessions for prospective adoptive parents, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges and responsibilities of adoption.
4. Provide ongoing support and counseling to prospective adoptive families throughout the adoption process, addressing any concerns or challenges they may encounter.
5. Develop and maintain relationships with adoption agencies, community resources, and other relevant organizations to expand adoption opportunities and resources.
6. Collaborate with the legal team to ensure accurate completion of adoption paperwork, required documentation, and background checks.
7. Organize and manage all necessary documentation and records related to adoption cases, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal requirements.
8. Conduct home visits and assessments to evaluate the safety and suitability of potential adoptive homes.
9. Coordinate post-placement visits and services to monitor the well-being and adjustment of adoptive families and provide necessary support.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Relevant experience in adoption services or a similar field is strongly preferred.
3. Solid knowledge of adoption laws, regulations, and procedures.
4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with prospective adoptive families, adoption agencies, and other stakeholders.
5. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
6. Empathy, sensitivity, and the ability to provide compassionate support to families throughout the adoption process.
7. Ability to assess and evaluate families' eligibility and suitability for adoption based on predetermined criteria.
8. Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges and provide appropriate recommendations.
